Discount for Hxx community members going to HITBSecConf2010, now EUR 250,- instead of EUR 899,-

26, May, 2010

This summer, one does not have to fly all the way to Asia to visit HITBSecConf. This security conference, with previous editions in Malaysia and Dubai, will have an Amsterdam edition at the Krasnapolsky Hotel on June 29th - July 2nd. Dutch hacker, and currently wikileaks activist, Rop Gonggrijp has signed on for the opening address on July 1st, starting off two days packed with talks on computer security, workshops on hardware hacking and a bazaar of European and international hackerspaces. On June 29th and 30th, various training sessions make up a program that gets you up to date on the latest in ICT security.

HAR attendees can register for HITBSecConf2010 in Amsterdam for the special discounted price of EUR 250,- (the normal pre-registration price is EUR 899,-). All you need to do is append HAR to your company like this: ‘Yoyodyne Inc. / HAR’, and the discounted price will be applied to your registration. A limited number of discounted registrations is available.

Confirmed talks include ‘Having Fun with Apple’s IOKit‘, ‘Breaking virtualisation by switching to virtual 8086 mode‘ and ‘From Russia with love 2.0‘. For more details, consult the conference schedule. Training sessions include such subjects as METASM, Web 2.0 hacking and designing secure protocols and intercepting secure communications.

At the hackerspace bazaar, the Dutch hackerspaces (Randomdata, Revelation Space and hack42) are represented along with hackerspaces from elsewhere in Europe (/tmp/lab from Paris and Metalab from Vienna) and hackerspace KL (for Kuala Lumpur). We hope that with the special discount for the Hxx community, we will see a lot of familiar faces at HITBSecConf2010!

May 1 - post-ACTAlyps hacktivism and brainstorm session

26, Apr, 2010

With the imminent release of the final texts of the ACTA agreement
it is time to take a comb and go through the implications of the
contents, look at the consequences and changes the text entails for
us in person and society in general. We cordially invite hacktivists
to join us on may 1st, 15.00 hours at Revelation Space.

Subjects of discussion:
- What is ACTA;
- What can we do about it;
- When filtering is mandatory, what to do and how to handle this;
- How effective is filtering really, and can it be circumvented?
- Can we work around the new restrictions introduced by the agreement?

In addition, there will be time for analysis of the text and informal
discussion.

This workshop is facilitated and supported by several key players in
the field of ICT and society:
- Bits of Freedom
- Vrijschrift
- HXX Foundation
